Probably the greatest of our Australian cartoon exports, ever!

😮 OK it really is starting to feel like you live inside my head now, Katie! So my daughter is ten and we were very much the Bing era of CBeebies. Flop and his Mother Theresa levels of patience being the cartoon parenting icon/guilt-inducer of the day.

I have NO idea why, but on Friday when my girl disappeared off to her Dad’s, I randomly decided to watch Bluey and see what all the fuss is about. I mean ‘Hospital’ is episode two! 😂👏🏻 Hooked from the get-go and decided to see if Em would watch it with me.

She’s moving to a new school in September, so as well as being utterly exhausted, she’s processing ALL the feelings at the moment. This is honestly one of the most intense seasons of parenting I’ve been through. But this week we’ve come together every night, snuggled up and watched Bluey. Bandit and Chilli have helped me immeasurably.

And then you wrote about it 💙

I loved reading this Katie! I’d heard a lot of praise for Bluey but never watched it until I read this, then I binged for an hour. I may never recover from ‘Flat Pack’

I feel so seen - this post is all my feels for Bluey 🥰

This is absolutely lovely Katie! It makes me jealous I didn’t write Bluey and I haven’t even seen it - but now I’ll make the effort to.

Oh this was just great! And I don’t even have kids!! My nieces and nephew are nuts about Bluey though and it’s seeped in to me. Am passing your article on to my Sister and Bro in Law as I know they’ll LOVE everything you’ve discussed 💙🩵💙

This made me cry as much as a Bluey episode. All so true, thanks so much for articulating why we all love it so much and why we ball our eyes out every morning while pouring a bowl of coco pops x

This makes me feel guilty for not taking full advantage of every play moment with B. I also need to watch more episodes

This is perfect.

I'm relieved to find I'm not the only one balling my eyes out during Bluey. I find some of the most powerful episodes to be the ones with little or no dialogue at all. 'Rain', where Bluey attempts to dam the water on the footpath while running mud all through the house is splendid. And my favourite of all, 'Sleepytime', in which Bingo dreams her way through space, is one of the most beautiful cartoon moments ever. I'm crying just thinking about it.

By the way, do you look for the Long Dog hidden in each episode?

This is exceptional! Gosh I’m glad I read this 🥰

It was October 2019.

We were at our favorite beach during a tropical storm, hatches battened down and all piled up on the couches in the condo. The kids were three, five, and seven, and I was head-deep in a hard but healing season in my body, my work, and my life as a mother.

We clicked through channels, sad to be stuck inside, until we landed on Disney Jr — and it was that moment our whole world turned right side up when we met the Heeler family. There is most certainly a Before Bluey era in our life as a family and an After.

Have I been known to sit and watch Bluey alone? Yes. Am I ashamed of this? No. Do I laugh out loud every episode? Yes. Do I even try to hide, anymore, the tears that sometimes relentlessly pour down my face when I watch it? No.

As the kids these days say (or do they even, anymore), we STAN Bluey in our house!

'Baby Race' and 'Onesies' both turned me into a total wreck. Masterpieces - just thinking about those episodes sets me off crying.

Bluey is darling. My son was watching it while I was on the phone with an insurance agent and she said, “Oh my god, I hear the Bluey theme song, I love that show!”

Wow now I have to go watch this show.
